Mennonite College of Nursing offers the Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree for Prelicensure B.S.N. nursing students. The traditional nursing curriculum extends over four semesters of full-time study. Each semester of the academic year provides for the practice of skills and the application of knowledge through a variety of classroom, laboratory and clinical experiences.
Nursing students come into MCN with some of the highest GPAs at the University.
Nursing is a rewarding career that combines science and technology with the desire to help people. Students of this highly competitive program gain hands-on experience in a variety of patient scenarios using state-of-the-art equipment, including high-fidelity manikins and virtual reality. These experiences prepare students for clinical practice, providing care to patients in hospitals and clinics. Educating nurses who lead is also important to us. All students learn leadership as part of their curriculum at Illinois State, and peer mentorship is emphasized throughout the program.

You must apply to Illinois State as a freshman for direct admission into the major. Select “Nursing (BSN)-Prelicensure” as your major of choice on the application for admission.
Admission is only available for the summer and fall terms. This program is highly competitive, and space is limited. Freshmen interested in pursuing nursing should apply by the priority deadline of November 1. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis with students receiving their decisions by early December.

Prior to enrolling in nursing coursework students must meet health and safety compliance requirements, to include drug testing, a criminal background check, a physical examination, and several immunizations. Failure to comply with these requirements will result in dismissal from the major.
International applicants must comply with the International Applicant Requirements as directed by the Illinois State University Office of Admissions. Please apply early in the application time frame to ensure adequate time to review transcripts.
